TEA WITH THE CHAIRMAN: The Kanoo Group facilitates interactive discussion between staff, Chairman Mishal Kanoo

In line with its commitment to engage with and motivate its employees further in the new year ahead, The Kanoo Group—one of the largest family-owned business conglomerates in the region—on January 16 has organized an interactive discussion between Chairman Mishal Kanoo and the sales employees from all of its divisions.

Held at Crowne Plaza Dubai, ‘Tea With the Chairman’ saw the corporate dialogue become active yet again within members of The Kanoo Group, as Mr. Mishal gave an inspiring talk that focused on the importance of leaving a mark from the job, as well as austerity in dominating the market and respective industry.

“We have a lot of deer, some are small, others are medium-sized, some of them are huge ones. If you want them, go get them. Go become the cheetah, the lion, or the panther. Or, you might become a vulture—eating whatever’s left,” he said.

The chairman added that people does not have to do things that are of grand scale, they just have to do something that they think is important and will leave a mark, long after they’re gone.

“Choose what you want to be, how you want to be remembered, or how you want to remember yourself. Because at the end of the day, it has nothing to do with what the company does, it has everything to do with you. If you want something, go get it,” he added.

The Kanoo Group’s Country Manager Hesham Nass, noted how all the members of the Group must be keen to add further value to the business through partnerships and joint ventures.

“Every single one of you has something to add to your customer. So you’re not sales per se, you are consultants, helping your customer to retain them. What we’re looking at today is that the market has saturated and is increasing in size. How do we add value? By collaborating. Collaborating between teams and collaborating across other brands of your industry,” he said.

Various divisions of The Kanoo Group have successfully forged a strong reputation as a reliable and trusted partner of world-renowned brands across several industrial industries. Since its establishment over a century ago,  the Group has several business activities across the world's most dynamic industries, including: shipping, travel, machinery and rentals, energy, cranes, capital services, steel reinforcement, real estate, logistics, specialty chemicals and business centers, and other retail and commercial activities.

However, the core ethos of the company remains strong and visible. The Kanoo Group’s devotion to their early values, as well as adherence to ethics and beliefs, had indeed made them a powerhouse in the region—boasting a remarkable history in terms of boosting loyalty within team members as well as industry partners.

Haddad also discussed the newest developments on the disease, including assessments and genetic screening, and innovative treatment options. She also constantly highlighted the importance of early detection and constant check-ups in battling and preventing breast cancer—citing that when detected ahead of time, there is “a 99% chance of recovery.”

Kanoo Shipping handles 1st vessel at King Salman Shipyard

In a bid to expand its maritime operations throughout the region, Kanoo Shipping, a division of The Kanoo Group and Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group—one of the largest family conglomerates in the region—has successfully handled the first vessel that came to King Salman Global Maritime Industries Complex (KSSY).

The division handled vessel Zhenhua 26, which came alongside berth 107 at the Saudi-based shipyard on October 6, and commenced discharging on October 7. Prior to this feat, Kanoo Shipping has never gotten involved with any shipment related to KSSY before.

The King Salman Global Maritime Industries Complex is a shipyard in Ras Al-Khair, Saudi Arabia, set to be the largest shipyard in the world upon completion.

Zhenhua 26 was also the first vessel that came to KSSY berth 107, according to Nikolai Norman, the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Kanoo Shipping. He said that all the parties involved were very much concerned on berthing as they were not sure about channel depth, drafts, safe berthing.

“We got documents related to that area (dredging report and depth drawing) from receivers and submitted them to Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) port authorities to further investigate from their side. The RAK Marine department sent a pilot to survey the channel and berth twice, after which he informed us that all looks fine and vessel can berth safely,” he said.

The division initially had a lot of difficulty in getting things in line, he added. However, with daily visits to RAK and KSSY ports, Kanoo Shipping managed to organize everything and convinced all related parties—including Saudi Arabian public petroleum and natural gas company Aramco and Chinese construction and engineering company SEPCO Electric Power Construction Corporation—to approve the berthing process.

“The Kanoo Shipping Project Team carried out an outstanding job with concern regarding berth under construction, channel depth, drafts & safe berthing. This is a sentiment that no job is too big for Kanoo Shipping,” added Norman.

Kanoo Shipping is a division of Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo. From being the first shipping agency in the Arabian Gulf region in 1912, it has grown into the largest regional shipping agency in the Middle East, handling over 20,000 ship calls every year through the company’s professional network, which covers all ports in the Suez, Indian sub-continent, and East/South Africa.

The Kanoo Group kicks off new website to reflect its innovation strategy in line with UAE’s journey towards digitalisation

The Kanoo Group, one of the largest family-owned business conglomerates in the region, has launched its new and enhanced website (www.kanoogroup.com) in a bid to mirror its steadfast commitment to continuously integrate innovation in accelerating the UAE’s economic diversification.

The move, led by its Marketing Department, aims to reflect the Group’s strategy to blend its agenda towards digital innovation and its commitment to highlight the importance of human connections.

As the company remains committed to dominating and conquering the industries it is engaged in across the region, The Kanoo Group remains steadfast in its goal still remind everyone about the true essence of humanity as the main core of its business operations.

Every business is created with the goal of reaching utmost success, and technology and digital means have been greatly utilized to ensure this. Especially during the pandemic that hit the world, the prolonged period of communal isolation made the world completely dependent on devices in order to seek connections.

In the recent years, more people have engaged in the online sphere than ever, with a significant portion of daily interactions mediated by gadgets and devices.

For The Kanoo Group, its Marketing Department analyzed the visitors’ behavior and interactions with its website and social media platforms. With this, the department came up with unique ideas on how to incorporate a glimpse of human touch on the new website.

In addition, research also shows that brands that utilize more ‘human’ features on their websites tend to attract greater trust. Study conducted by Sprout Social—an American software company—noted that 65% of consumers feel more connected to brands that with content that humanizes an otherwise faceless brand, and they want the people behind the brands doing the posting. This is because people feel more easily able to build a close relationship with them, giving them the impression that the brand genuinely cares about their needs.

The enhanced website is anticipated to generate more progress to The Kanoo Group’s stout online presence. Prior to this new website, The Kanoo Group already enjoys 8 million page views on the website, while its blog has already generated 311,495 impressions and total page views. In terms of social media, The Kanoo Group has generated 153,200 followers on LinkedIn, with mobile page views reaching over 8,000 a month.
