Kanoo Travel named best corporate travel company in the Middle East


Kanoo Travel, a member of The Kanoo Group, has been named the best Corporate Travel Company and the best Corporate Incentives Tour Operator in the Middle East at the Arabian Travel Awards 2019. The management of Kanoo Travel received the two awards during a special ceremony held in the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina.

Kanoo Travel wins top awards at sporting events


It’s a Hat-Trick Win against DNATA at the recent EmQuest-Sabre Cricket tournament and a Runner-Up at the Turkish Airline Bowling tournament for Kanoo Travel 

 
Dubai, UAE: Kanoo Travel won the latest EmQuest-Sabre Cricket Tournament and a Runner-Up at the Turkish Airline Bowling Tournament, consecutively held in March and April 2019 in Dubai, with Kanoo Travel as one of the participating Travel partners.

Kanoo Rangers, the Kanoo Travel’s cricket team consisting of players Tabrez Shaikh (Captain), Asim Fawaz, Liston Olivera, Rafaz Mulla, Nuski Arafath, Rizwan Alambath, Zahir Shaikh, Mohomad Ajwan and Sajid Shaikh nabbed the Overall Winner for this year’s tournament finale held at Insportz Indoor Cricket facility Dubai.

Kanoo Rangers competed with 60 teams, defeating City Travel, Airlink Travel, Dada Bhai Travels, and Kabul Travels in the semi-finals, and DNATA in the final rounds.

Tabrez Shaikh was named the Man of the Match for his outstanding spell during the finals, and Nuski Arafath was awarded the Best Bowler title.

For three straight years, Kanoo Travel has been enjoying the leading title for the said annual cricket event organised by EmQuest-Sabre for their clients and partners in the travel industry.

Likewise, Kanoo Travel claimed a Runner Up title at the latest Bowling tournament sponsored by Turkish Airlines held at Dubai International Bowling Center.

There were 36 travel agents and partners who competed for the winning title. Faraj Nissam, Rafaz Mulla, and Tyronne Harrison represented Kanoo Travel in the bowling match, eventually placing Kanoo Travel in the second place.

Kanoo Travel celebrates International Day of Happiness with industry partners

Kanoo Travel, together with industry partners, recently hosted a Desert Safari and a Bowling event in Dubai to celebrate the International Day of Happiness which aims to underline the importance of promoting positive values and the spirit of optimism and happiness among its employees and clients.

Aubrey Heldt, General Manager, Kanoo Travel – UAE & Oman said, “With partners including Air France-KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) and Oman Air, we help ensure that everyone can achieve the common goal of sustainable happiness. Through our planned activities, we underscore human connection, positive outlook, purpose, and gratitude which are important factors towards Happiness."

Kanoo Travel in collaboration with Air France-KLM recently organised the Inter-Department Bowling Tournament to promote happiness amongst employees as well as customers by means of sports through teamwork and camaraderie.

The inaugural sports day welcomed 29 teams from Kanoo Travel and guests from Kanoo divisions, Air France-KLM, and their customers, which was held at the International Bowling Centre in Al Mamzar.

The playoff winners for individual categories were Rajesh Kutty (CRM Team) for Highest Score-Male and Christine Ondangan (Achill Management) for Highest Score-Female; Ryan Tugade (Achill Management) for Highest Strikes-Male and Emma Sison (BCG) Highest Strikes-Female.

The overall winners, by organisation, were awarded to Amex Centurion (Winner), Achilll Management (1st Runner Up), and Kanoo Shipping (Marine) (2nd Runner Up).

The Bowling Tournament concluded on a very happy note, with award medals and trophies as well as giveaway tokens presented to the winners and participants respectively.

Similarly, Kanoo Travel together with Oman Air also led a corporate Desert Safari event to celebrate the Happiness Day held at Al Masayaf Camp, which was attended by around 200 representatives from both companies.

The event was a chance for senior executives and employees alike to socialise and explore the exotic nature and beauty of the desert on a sunset while enjoying a wide choice of adventure activities such as dune bashing, camel riding, sandboarding, henna painting and quad biking.
Apart from the thrilling rides, participants were fascinated with various entertainment such as dance performances – the tanoura, fire and belly dancing show, under the stars, while indulging in a BBQ dinner buffet. Others completed the adventure by having a precious memory of the tour through photographs taken wearing traditional Arabic clothing.

Towards the end of the event, two economy-class tickets were awarded to raffle draw winners Asmi Virgo (Landmark Group) and Dyn Cimon (Atlas Copco) – courtesy of Oman Air. All attendees likewise received giveaway tokens from the organisers.

The growing happiness and wellbeing movement in the country is being led by the UAE, with its commitment to becoming the happiest country in the world. With respect to this initiative, the recent UN report has ranked the UAE as the happiest country in the Arab region for the fifth year running.

Kanoo Travel participates in roadshows in support for ‘Happiness Carnival’

Kanoo Travel participated in a series of roadshows on Happiness Carnival, an event that underlines the importance of promoting positive values and the spirit of optimism and happiness among employees, in line with the UAE’s commitment to becoming the happiest country in the world. 

A host of fun activities and exhibitions were recently held at ENOC and McDermott headquarters in Dubai respectively, as organisers for the Carnival Day, where Kanoo Travel was one of the invited participants.
The ENOC’s 2-day event showcased a comprehensive program of discounts and features from over 40 participating companies across the UAE in different sectors such as the travel & tourism, health and beauty, hospitality, among others.

The carnival was hosted for ENOC employees where it has a diverse workforce of around 1,000 in its Headquarters and 13,000 across the UAE.

Kanoo Travel wins Runner-Up Trophy at Royal Brunei Airlines’ bowling tournament in Dubai

Dubai, UAE: Kanoo Travel won a Runner-Up Trophy ahead of other travel contenders in the UAE in this year’s Royal Brunei Airlines Bowling Tournament, which was recently held at the Dubai International Bowling Centre.

Royal Brunei Airlines, the flag carrier for the Sultanate of Brunei, brought together 35 top travel agency partners in the UAE and their players, which made the event a roaring success.
Aubrey Heldt, General Manager, Kanoo Travel – UAE & Oman said, “Aside from promoting sports as well as our local bowling players, the main objective of this gathering is to foster friendship, cooperation and sportsmanship among our customers.”

“We were excited and nervous about the games. We had to give our best performance to keep up with high expectations in maintaining our winning titles which gave us numerous trophies and medals during the past years. Luckily, our team has brought home another trophy. Congratulations to all the participants from Kanoo Travel,” he lastly remarked.

The tournament is an effort to use sports as a communication tool to develop team dynamics and to celebrate the spirit of partnership and healthy competition among the travel management companies.

Kanoo Travel recognizes Top Performers and Key Industry Contributors for 2018


Dubai, UAE: Kanoo Travel recently recognized its UAE top performers for 2018, with an awards ceremony held at its Headquarters in Dubai.
Mr. Zaeem Gama (Interim Executive General Manager) and Mr. Aubrey Heldt (General Manager – UAE & Oman), Kanoo Travel, hosted the ceremony and awarded the best employees based on several criteria, which were subjected to nominations by individual line managers and selection of winners by the management from among those nominees.

Today we honour the extraordinary achievements of our 2018 award winners. Those we have recognized have exhibited a true commitment to transforming Kanoo Travel in setting the standard for excellence within our company. They have exuded exceptional services not only to external but internal customers and emerging on top of their game,” said Mr. Zaeem Gama.

This year’s winners who have generated the ‘Highest Income’ were awarded to Abdul Khader Subhan, Hazel Muthambiranwa, Ma Loisa Bayos Gonzales, Nafessa Ansari Usman and Shafiullah Mohamed; while ‘Best Sales’ were given to Vikas Patil, Flora Coutinho,  Rekan Fazly Mohammed Latiff, Bahaa El Deen, Vimal Varghese, Arun Kumar B. Manigandan, and Waqar Ahmed respectively.

Other key awards including ‘Best Support Associate’ were given to Sundeep Sundara Babu, Muhammad Faraz Alam Khan, Kashimsab Shaikh, Rony Rodrigues, Jemini Jose Elavunkul, Edwin Vincent Dsouza, Duminda Prasad Silva, Irfan Zaka, and Wasantha Kumara Langappuli.

Equally, the ‘Best Customer Care’ awards were given to Qusai Habib, Marlon Cres M Andos, Haydee Mapoy, Roy Urmenita, Mohammed Idrees Amer John, Erly Sandaan Sta Cruz, Nazimul Islam, Debbie Tamayo David and Niroshanna Mandalanayagam.

Managers and staff of Kanoo Travel from across the UAE, as well as the regional office, convened to recognize and celebrate this year’s Kanoo Travel top performers in the UAE, while highlighting the importance of delivering an efficient, fast and convenient service to customers, and also keeping abreast with technologies.

Kanoo Travel’s Team B wins Runner-Up Trophy at Delta Foot Golf Challenge

Delta Foot Golf Challenge 2018 ended with an awesome display of Tee to Hole accuracy from Kanoo Travel’s Team B which finished with the Runner-Up Trophy held at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club on 9th November 2018.

The Foot Golf Challenge was hosted by Delta Airlines with the participation of its major travel partners including Kanoo Travel, a member of The Kanoo Group. Every year, Delta Airlines has been organising such various sporting challenge event, attended by its industry partners across the UAE.

“We were excited to play in the competition with extremely talented players and excellent coaches from across our partners and customers, leading to this award. This gathering also continues to nurture the bond between us”, said Aubrey Heldt, General Manager, Kanoo Travel – UAE & Oman.
Foot Golf is a precision sport, in which players kick a soccer ball into a cup in as few shots as possible. The game is played similarly to golf, with the exception that players use a soccer ball instead of a golf ball, and the ball is kicked rather than struck with a club, working toward a 21-inch "cup" in place of the usual golf hole.

The winning teams were awarded with trophies, and players from the teams as well as participants emphasized the importance of physical fitness and staying physically active, in such a fun environment.

CUCA Students tour Kanoo Travel for learning opportunities in the Travel sector

Dubai, UAE:  Travel and Tourism students from City University College of Ajman (CUCA) recently visited Kanoo Travel premises in Karama, Dubai to gain insights into their chosen field, and to understand the functions of the industry. It was also an opportunity to those who pursue a career in the Travel sector.
During the visit, Aubrey Heldt, General Manager, Kanoo Travel – UAE & Oman delivered his opening speech and welcomed the 22 Students, as well as Faculty Member, Dr. Tajwar Hussaini, Internal Verifier at CUCA. He further gave a short briefing about Kanoo Travel as a Travel Management Company (TMC) and introduced the new type of evolving business, the Online Travel Agency (OTA).

Salman Bhari, Sales Manager, Kanoo Travel - UAE & Oman conducted a product presentation of Kanoo Travel on all relevant areas of the travel business in order for the students to understand the functioning of the Industry. 

Additionally, Naseer Khan, Regional Travel Manager, Kanoo Travel-UAE & Oman gave them an outline on how the Kanoo Travel as a company handles its day to day operations as a corporate business.

Kanoo Travel highlights technology trends at ATM

Dubai, UAE: Kanoo Travel showcased its new technology platform, Krystal Online and its recently integrated Business Intelligence solution, across four days at the latest Arabian Travel Market, held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) to enhance customers’ travel business needs across the region.

The Kanoo Group honoured by MOHRE for supporting Emiratisation policy

Dubai, UAE: The Kanoo Group and Kanoo Travel, along with other awardees received a certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) in recognition for their strong support and interaction with the qualitative Emiratisation challenge, recently placed in the category of "Best Companies in Employment" in the Transport and Aviation Sector.

His Excellency Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli presented the award to The Kanoo Group and Kanoo Travel, along with other awardees, and thanked them for their efforts in achieving the objectives of the Emiratisation challenge and for excellent teamwork in reaching tangible and rapid results of national KPIs 2021.

Ms. Maryam Al Busaidy, The Kanoo Group’s Head of HR - Employee Services and Emiratisation, in collaboration with the HR team, led the campaign to reinforce the MOHRE and the General Civil Aviation Authority’s ‘Emiratisation Accelerators Program’, which aims to recruit 1,000 UAE Nationals in the said targeted sector within 100 days, in 2018.

The Accelerator’s goal is to integrate UAE Nationals in the strategic economic sectors of the UAE by providing added value job positions that will enhance economic activities in the country from its current 3.35% to 5% by 2021, through strategic partnerships with private sectors.
“Emiratisation is a major priority for the UAE Government and a national responsibility for all, which requires the integration of all national initiatives in this regard, in order to achieve the aspirations of the people of the UAE and to provide prosperity and a decent life for all members of society,” declared HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
According to the Ministry, the current total workforce in the Transportation and Storage Sector accounts to 150,000 ̶ of which 2,000 are UAE Nationals. In 2017, there were 20,000 job opportunities ̶ of which 5,000 to 7,000 were suitable opportunities for the UAE nationals, it added.

Kanoo Travel wins Championship title at the Sabre-EmQuest Cricket Mania 2018

Kanoo Thunders, the Kanoo Travel’s Cricket Team won the Championship title, on top of other awards at the recent power-packed show, Sabre-EmQuest Cricket Mania 2018, after defeating DNATA Travel HRG at the finals, held at Insportz Indoor Cricket facility in Dubai.

‘Never quit attitude’ as the team says, led them to an unbeaten streak, thus defeating Deira Travels, ITL World Travels, Akbar Travels and BCD Travels A and B teams, out of 60 participating players from the travel industry.

The indoor cricket mania is being sponsored by EmQuest, a division of the Dubai-based Emirates and the travel distribution partner of Sabre Holdings, the world’s leading provider of travel technology solutions. Kanoo Travel, in addition to other travel partners across the UAE, were invited to participate in the yearly sports tournament.

The players of Kanoo Thunders, Tabrez Shaikh, Liston Olivera, Rafaz Mulla, Nuski Arafath, Rizwan Alambath, Ankit Desai, Zahir Shaikh, Mohomad Ajwan and Melwyn Menezes, could not hide their joy after winning the top title for the second time after 2015.


 Captain Asim Fawaz said, “We are confident of the fighting spirit that each one has demonstrated throughout the game. It has never let us down. Credit goes to all of us for always putting up an excellent teamwork. We have great hope, belief and determination that pushed us forward to reach our ultimate goal. I must say that this is probably the best tournament that we ever had witnessed for the past years.”

In addition, Kanoo Thunder’s Nuski Arafath was also judged as the ‘Man of the Match’ and the ‘Best Batsman’ of the final match, with Tabrez Shaikh as the ‘Best Batsman of the Series. Further, Rizwan Alambath was named the ‘Best Bowler’ and Ankit Desai as the ‘Best Catch’ of the final match.

Turkish Airlines honours Kanoo Travel for 2015 performance



Dubai, UAE: Kanoo Travel received a plaque of appreciation during the Annual Travel Agencies Awards and gala dinner event hosted by Turkish Airways to honour travel agents across Dubai for their outstanding support and contribution to the airline’s robust expansion in the Emirate for 2015. 

The event was held at Park Hyatt Dubai on 29th February 2016 where the most successful partners in the travel industry were given recognition and introduced to Exclusive Drive Services of Turkish Airways. It was another year of celebration to the business relationship.

Kanoo Travel was awarded among the top 23 best performing agents in 2015 for being an intrinsic part of the airline’s advancement in the region. Mr. Sunil D’souza, Mr. Aubrey Heldt, Mr. Bhavin Mithani, Mr. Hemant Baheti and Mr. Shaukat Parkar received the plaque of appreciation on behalf of Kanoo Travel.

Over 250 guests graced the special celebration including Mr. Mustafa Levent Bilgen, Turkish Ambassador to the UAE; Mr. Erdem Ozan, Turkish Consul General in Dubai, and senior officials of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.

Pertaining to the recent award, Mr. Sunil D’souza said, “This honour clearly demonstrates Kanoo Travel’s strength in the travel sector for the quality of services and customer experience that we collectively deliver in this part of the region. This milestone is for everyone who constantly work hard towards success of Kanoo Travel.”
