Kanoo Machinery joins Perkins in the 2018 Middle East Electricity to showcase revolutionary engines that power a myriad of applications

Kanoo Machinery is the authorised Perkins distributor in the Gulf, covering Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Yemen as part of Perkins strategy to grow and sustain 'Best in class' Distribution network
Dubai, UAE: Kanoo Machinery, a member of The Kanoo Group, exhibited alongside its principal Perkins® at the 2018 Middle East Electricity held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on 6-8 March 2018 to meet the power industry’s burgeoning demand for clean and efficient gas fuelled engines.

Perkins, one of the world’s leading providers of diesel and gas engines is a key sponsor of the recently concluded exhibition. Middle East Electricity is the region’s most important international trade event for the power industry with dedicated product sectors for power generation, transmission & distribution, lighting, solar and energy storage and management solutions.

During the show, Perkins showcased its three new engine platforms, the 7L Perkins® 1206, 9.3L 1706 and 18L 2806, which it said deliver a great uplift in power density across a comprehensive range of power nodes. This means that customers can run a smaller engine that is just as dependable as before regardless of what EP sector, power needs, emissions demands, or environmental challenges they work in, thus increasing its performance and reducing operational costs.

Perkins also showcased its latest product innovation – the Perkins® SmartCap and Perkins® My Engine App which can be downloaded from Apple and Google App stores. The SmartCap solution allows end users to connect their mobile device to their engine via the free Perkins® My Engine App on their smartphone, installed by replacing the existing oil filler cap. This cap monitors the Perkins' engine and directly sends data to the app with information such as engine running hour, location, and much more.

Graeme de Villiers, acting country manager, Kanoo Machinery – UAE, said, “Kanoo Machinery looks after Perkins’ distribution strategy, engine distribution management, and product support capacity across the GCC. This includes engine sales, brand and product marketing, training, parts inventory optimisation, as well as technical/warranty support.”

“To support the new generation of technologically advanced Perkins engines entering the market, we ensure that we deliver consistent and seamless service across the region, in accordance with Perkins global parts and service support standards,” he added.
“Kanoo Machinery is a Perkins authorised district training centre that provides training needs for Perkins Engines in the region. With a fully equipped dedicated training facility based in Dubai and with Perkins approved trainers, it provides a local platform for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), OEM dealers, government establishments, large fleet users to quickly address their technical and product support needs,” Shaik Rahim, technical and training manager, Kanoo Machinery, explained.

“This training covers maintenance, service, technical and application engineering to equip customers on how to optimise their engines’ lifetime cost of ownership. We also provide Perkins Certifications for trainees as well as customised training content options for end users.”
Furthermore, Kanoo Machinery also works with new inventory management and forecasting systems to ensure that it offers competitively priced genuine Perkins parts, reflecting the market demands and the availability on the shelves at each Dealer outlet.

PSG, Perkins strengthen ties

Power Systems Gulf, a member of The Kanoo Group, along with Perkins UK, participated in the 2015 Middle East Electricity Exhibition which was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on 2nd – 4th March, 2015 to showcase the broad Perkins product range from the 400 to the 4000 series and to promote the strong product support network in the region.

The Middle East Electricity is the largest and longest running power event in the region which brings together leaders from the power, lighting, nuclear or renewable energy sectors to exhibit their products and services.  The recent 40th Edition gathered more than 1,300 exhibitors in an area of approximately 54,000sqm, with around 20,000 visitors showing interest in the power generation segment.

This year, the Perkins exhibition stand was massive, well-designed and futuristic, which was located right in front of the Hall 1 entrance. The new Perkins product displayed was the 1506A engine manufactured in US, which is built on a reliable core to deliver improved performance and improved ambient capability upto 53 deg C, in the range of 200 – 330kVA. Power Systems Gulf provided a 4006 diesel engine from stock for display, which comes from an engine family offering proven quality, class leading warranty and reliability in key locations around the globe.
