Oganized by Amna Almheiri, Group Talent Acquisition Manager at The Kanoo Group, on a crisp December morning in Dubai's Bur Ruwayyah desert, employees from across The Kanoo Group's divisions gathered at dawn to participate in the 23rd "Clean UAE" campaign, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to environmental conservation.
The initiative, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), brought together 8,396 volunteers who covered more than 10 kilometers across four locations in the Dubai desert. Working in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, the event marked the campaign's second stop in its nationwide journey.
"The Kanoo Group has been committed to this cause since its inception," said Mohammad Tariq, HR Manager for UAE & Oman at The Kanoo Group. "We take pride in our corporate social responsibility initiatives and believe our involvement significantly contributes to combating climate change."
The campaign, described by Habiba Al Mar'ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), as the UAE's largest community-driven environmental protection initiative, has operated under the slogan "Together for a Better Environment" since 1991. Its significance was recently elevated when the UAE cabinet officially endorsed the program.
The Kanoo Group, one of the Gulf's largest independent family-owned conglomerates, has consistently aligned itself with Dubai's environmental initiatives through active participation in meetings, presentations, and dialogue sessions with government authorities. This latest involvement underscores the group's dedication to sustainability during the UAE's "Year of Sustainability."
The campaign represents a collaborative effort between businesses, government entities, academic institutions, and community members, all working toward a greener future. For The Kanoo Group, it's another step in their long-standing tradition of supporting environmental and charitable causes through their comprehensive CSR programs.
This unified approach to environmental protection exemplifies how private sector engagement can amplify government-led sustainability initiatives, creating meaningful impact at both national and global levels.
