efforts in fighting the crime wave of illicit trade, The Kanoo Group, for the

Intellectual Property Crime Conference held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai,
on 25 to 26 September 2018.
Mr. Fahad
Kanoo, Acting CEO, The Kanoo Group-UAE & Oman said, “The annual conference
provides us with a vital and unique platform that brings together law
enforcement officials, security and industry experts to strengthen our
international cooperation against IP crimes in the region and beyond.”
“We continue to do our part in supporting causes and actions that tackle these global threats and bring awareness among different sectors of our community,” he added.
“We continue to do our part in supporting causes and actions that tackle these global threats and bring awareness among different sectors of our community,” he added.
While the
Conference was originally intended specifically for law enforcement personnel,
it has transformed into a great educational and networking tool for the public,
as well as private sector organisations such as The Kanoo Group.
On behalf of
The Kanoo Group, Mr. Ali Islim, Marketing Manager of The Kanoo Group (UAE &
Oman), together with Management delegate attended the event and received the
Appreciation Award from Major General Dr Abdel Qudous Abdelrazaq Al Obaidli,
Assistant Commandant General for Excellence and Pioneering, Dubai Police.
The 12th
International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference addressed the key IP issues
related to artificial intelligence, cryptocurrencies, organised crime, money
laundering, and free trade zones. It was aimed to shape effective enforcement
strategies through a review of operational case studies, best practices and
industry perspectives through a series of plenary and panel sessions as well as
workshops allocated for one-on-one networking sessions.
With the global
trade of fake goods, worth approximately half a trillion US dollars a year, IP
crime touches all industry sectors, affecting the global economy and
endangering public health.
According to
INTERPOL, between March and May this year, it has coordinated regional
operations across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America to shut down
factories and supply chains connected to counterfeit goods, and to identify
illicit trade routes, and dismantle organised crime networks.
Protecting
IP embodies the Expo 2020 Dubai theme, “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”,
in line with the UAE leaders’ vision for a sustainable economy.
As one of
the pioneering conglomerates in the region established in 1890, The Kanoo Group
understands the importance of IP protection and the enormous damages that
illicit trade/counterfeiting and piracy do to our global economy, by which no
industry sector is exempt.
