Mishal Kanoo delivers keynote speech at INSEAD Global Business Leaders Conference

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Mishal Kanoo, Chairman of The Kanoo Group addressed the topic, ‘Changing face of corporate governance in the world’ as one of the panelists at the INSEAD Global Business Leaders Conference (GBLC) held on 24th October 2016 at St. Regis Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.

The INSEAD GBLC is a series of high-level academic and business conferences held around the globe that  discuss major issues affecting the world and its leaders. This year’s conference theme is “Corporate Governance in Uncertain Times”.

As one of the speakers, Mr. Mishal Kanoo together with Mr. Mahmood H. Alkooheji, Mr. Pekka Hietala, Mr. Ludo Van der Heyden and Dr. Adnan Soufi, reviewed the major changes in global governance - aimed to answer the basic questions: “Is governance around the world improving? Where in particular, and how so?”; “What are the expectations might one hold about governance going forward?” The panel was moderated by Mr. Peter Zemsky.

Founded in 1957, INSEAD has developed to an internationally regarded institution as one of the leading and largest graduate business schools with campuses in Europe (France), Asia (Singapore) and the Middle East (Abu Dhabi). In 2016, all three of INSEAD’s MBA programmes - MBA, Executive MBA and Single School Executive MBA are ranked #1 by the Financial Times in their categories. GBLC has become the School’s flagship event.

Other prominent speakers also addressed the Conference with subjects extending across major changes and practices in the global economy’s public and corporate governance, albeit with cultural diversities; as well as the Importance of Leadership, Institutions, and Education; contributing to a sustainable growth scenario in today’s quality of governance.

Hyundae Fitting Chairman's Visit to UAE Held

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Chairman of Hyundae Fitting, Mr. Meang-Sung Ha met with Deputy Chairman, Mr. Mohamed Kanoo, in Abu Dhabi on 18^th October 2016 following extensive meetings held in Dubai with senior members of The Kanoo Group Management.  Mr. Ha was accompanied by his overseas Sales Manager Mr. Jacob Gong.  Also present was Mr. Sang Bok Lee from STIC Investments in South Korea.

The representatives of Hyundae Fitting are in the UAE to investigate ways to further develop its regional business interests with The Kanoo Group and YBAK.

Hyundae Fitting is based in Busan, South Korea.  They produce high end, specialized Flanges for the Oil & Gas sector, among others.

Kanoo Machinery introduces new Bobcat Backhoe loader in the UAE market

UAE: Kanoo Machinery introduced its new Bobcat Backhoe Loaders to the UAE customers through its Meet & Greet Contractors Day held respectively on 23^rd and 30^th May 2016 at its JAFZA and Mussafah premises as the equipment giant’s authorised distributor.

The Meet & Greet Contractors Day was attended by Kanoo Machinery senior management, which was a networking and business opportunity mostly targeted for key decision makers, GMs and plant managers from major construction companies in the UAE where a demand for a versatile machine that can be put to diverse uses at different job sites in the region is tremendous. 

Overall, the event saw Kanoo Machinery’s 6-8 major contracting business customers in each branches get acquainted with the newly launched Bobcat range and models. The new B700+ range is Bobcat’s first attempt in the backhoe loader category and the first to be revealed in the Middle East.

Bobcat’s backhoe loader range comprises of four models, the B700, B730, B750 and B780 with variety of options that can be configured as per customer’s requirements. Although all models share the same 4.4-litre, maximum torque of 408 Nm at 1350 rpm, and direct fuel injection engine producing 74.5 kW (100hp) at 2200 rpm, their transmissions vary from model to model, with a choice of four-speed synchroshuttle, powershift or auto powershift. 

Added distinguishing features include the hydraulic controls and the bucket cylinders, with the B700 featuring a single loader cylinder while the others sport double loaders. Among other options include cab-over or fully enclosed cabins.

The customers mostly passed positive reviews and feedbacks to the new products especially in terms of comfort to the operators – a spacious operator’s cabin; easy service accessibility – a large engine hood; and an advanced control valve assembly.

Similarly, Kanoo Machinery recently introduced the newly launched Bobcat sand cleaner. A demonstration of the equipment was carried for ‘Lavajet’, one of the major beach cleaning customers in Abu Dhabi. The machines were brought to Corniche beach where Kanoo did the demonstration for Lavajet for its clients SERCO & Abu Dhabi Municipality. Serco officials were present at the demo site and were quite satisfied with the machines’ performance.

The Kanoo Group donates Dh1m to 'Reading Nation' drive

The Kanoo Group, one of the largest family-owned conglomerates in the UAE, donated Dh 1 million to support the 'Reading Nation' campaign for Ramadan.

The campaign was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in line with the UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's dedication of 2016 as the 'Year of Reading.'

'Reading Nation' aims to distribute five million books to children in refugee camps and schools around the world, establish over 2,000 libraries in different Arab and Islamic countries, and to support various educational programmes organised by humanitarian organisations..

Mishal Kanoo, Chairman of The Kanoo Group, said, "Our participation in this humanitarian initiative reaffirms our continued efforts in providing community support and paying back to society."

He added, "We are honoured to support 'Reading Nation' campaign and be part of a project that we believe will have a huge positive impact on generations and communities across the region and the world."
