The Kanoo Group and IPS UK form joint venture

The partnership will bring expertise, technology and broad distribution capabilities for machinery customers in the Middle East

October 26, 2014 – Kanoo Machinery formed a new partnership deal with IPS UK last Thursday, 23rd October 2014 to cater to its increasing customer demand for access platform parts. The joint venture ceremony was held at The Kanoo Group Jebel Ali facility. 

Mr. Bob Curtis (CEO, The Kanoo Group – UAE & Oman) together with Mr. Tony Jennings (Director, IPS UK) signed the joint venture contract in the presence of senior management executives of Kanoo Machinery and IPS UK representatives.

The new joint venture is the largest expansion of IPS network to date. IPS has more than a decade of experience in supplying genuine and replacement parts for access platform equipment and is the official UK parts distributor for a number of manufacturers including Genie, Hinowa, Omme Lift, Isoli, Youngman BoSS, Grove Manlift, Manitou, Pop-Up and MEC.

Bob Curtis, The Kanoo Group CEO for UAE and Oman, said: “The Gulf states, India and North Africa have all experienced high growth in the adoption and use of powered access over the past few years. IPS-Middle East will bring increased price competitiveness and parts availability to this region, which can only be of benefit to rental companies and other aerial lift owners.”

IPS is part of IAPS Group, which was formed in 2012 through the merger of Telford-based Independent Parts and Service Ltd (IPS) and Huntingdon-based Access Platform Sales Ltd (APS), IAPS Group is the largest independent full service distributor of powered access platforms (aerial lifts) in the UK.  IAPS Group offers nationwide sales of new and used machines and comprehensive after-sales support including parts, mobile service and workshop repair for a wide range of powered access equipment.

The Kanoo Group’s logistics and distribution centre in the UAE will hold a significant inventory of IPS parts which can be readily available to its customers in the region which in turn increase efficiency; ensuring a quick and ready access to the most in-demand products.

As a senior member of the management team, P.S. Ganapathi has played a vital and active role in formulating the financial policies of the company working closely with the Group management,  Chairman and the Deputy Chairman. The Kanoo Group wins Appreciation Award from Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre

Dubai, UAE – In celebration for the 20th Anniversary of the Rashid PaediatricTherapy Centre, officials and representatives of reputable companies including The Kanoo Group gathered for an awards ceremony at Culture and Science Theatre - Al Mamzar, Dubai on 30th April 2014.

Awards were given to selected donors who support the centre’s program in educating children with special needs - with conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and autism.

Mr. Fahad Kanoo, Executive Director-UAE received the appreciation award from Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre on behalf of The Kanoo Group.

The honour underlines the commitment and thought leadership of The Kanoo Group in various CSR initiatives and practices that bring positive impact to society and promote the spirit of charity among people and organisations.

Ms. Mariam Othman, general manager of the school highlighted the achievements of the centre for the past 20 years and the importance of corporate support for children still on waiting list, with families who rely on fees (Dhs 29,000 per year) to cover the cost for their education.

She also encourages awareness of special needs in the community and what the centre is all about. She added that the school had developed significantly over 8 years since she was teaching there through the success of its programs. The centre was inaugurated in 1994.

During the event, the audience was entertained with performances of students with special needs which shows the world that their situation does not limit their potentials and skills; that only needs to be developed. 

In addition, the centre also hosted the Chinese Dreams group for a stage drama which similarly represented members with special needs.

The Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre aims to ensure that international standards of excellence in education and therapy are maintained at every level.

The Kanoo Group attends Sightsavers event as charity supporter

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Representatives of ‘The Kanoo Group’ together with local and international charitable and humanitarian institutions attended the UAE Conference on Saving Sight as partners and supporters of Sightsavers, held on 30th April 2014 at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Sightsavers International is a group of organisations working with partners to eliminate avoidable blindness and to promote equality of opportunity for disabled people in those living in poverty, in some of the world's poorest countries.

His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, President of Sightsavers UAE and Patron of ‘The UAE Conference on Saving Sight 2014’ delivered his opening speech. 
He paid tribute to Sightsavers International for helping cure millions of eye patients in the world, with the presence of HRH Princess Alexandra, President of Sightsavers and Sir John Major, former UK Prime Minister and Chairman of Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

HRH Princess Alexandra and Sir John Major also addressed the conference.
The organisers of the event led by Mr. Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Director General of Sightsavers Middle East provided exhibition stands for sponsors and supporters as part of the networking opportunity.

The Kanoo Group's Marketing Department spearheaded by Ali Islim (Manager), together with Victor Maasilamani, Michelle Laylo and Sundar Liwang attended the conference on behalf of The Kanoo Group as one of the event supporters.

HRH Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy KG GCVO visited the exhibitions stands including The Kanoo Group and personally thanked the company for its valuable contributions for Sightsavers charity. 

Dr. Ivo Kocur, an expert in the field of public eye health from World Health Organization, in addition to representatives of organisations and prominent guests also came to see The Kanoo Group stand for its company profile and for details about the philanthropic causes it supports.

With known matchless hospitality, HH Sheikh Nahyan invited all conference participants (more than 60 representatives) for a banquet meal personally hosted by His Highness after the networking event and opening ceremony.

Professor Bon Bundy from World Bank moderated the second part of the sessions with key speakers: Dr. Abdulredha Bahman (Kuwait Fund for Development) and Mr. Ibrahim Al Sugair (Saudi Fund for Development), “The role of international donors; achievements”.

The conference resumed with various Sight-Saving agenda delivered by renowned speakers: Dr. Ivo Kocur, “Towards universal eye health – a new global effort of WHO member states”; Dr. Caroline Harper (Chief Executive of Sightsavers), “Major challenges in fighting avoidable blindness”; Mr. Simeon Bush (Director of Neglected Tropical Diseases, Sightsavers), “The blinding neglected by tropical diseases”; and Dr. Kamal Binnawi (Ministry of Health, Sudan), “Overview of eye care in Sudan”. The sessions were moderated by Mr. Abdulla Al-Nuaimi.

Dr. Harper delivered his closing remarks which concluded with a bright vision for Sightsavers and its sustained advocacy to support avoidable blindness programmes particularly those with trachoma, river blindness and cataract.

Kanoo Machinery earns DP World's UAE Region Top Vendor Award for second consecutive year

Dubai, UAE – April 15, 2014: Kanoo Machinery, a member of The Kanoo Group received the DP World's UAE Region Top Vendor for 2013 during the awards ceremony held recently at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai. This is the second consecutive year that Kanoo Machinery earned the top honour.
 
DP World-UAE organizes this annual program in recognition for its top performers. This year, from among its 900 suppliers. The award was based on the overall contributing factors that have directly influenced sales, customer-service goals, inventory and margins, among others.
