Dubai, UAE – In celebration for the 20th Anniversary of the Rashid PaediatricTherapy Centre, officials and representatives of reputable companies including The Kanoo Group gathered for an awards ceremony at Culture and Science Theatre - Al Mamzar, Dubai on 30th April 2014.

Awards were given to selected donors who support the centre’s program in educating children with special needs - with conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and autism.

Mr. Fahad Kanoo, Executive Director-UAE received the appreciation award from Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre on behalf of The Kanoo Group.

The honour underlines the commitment and thought leadership of The Kanoo Group in various CSR initiatives and practices that bring positive impact to society and promote the spirit of charity among people and organisations.

Ms. Mariam Othman, general manager of the school highlighted the achievements of the centre for the past 20 years and the importance of corporate support for children still on waiting list, with families who rely on fees (Dhs 29,000 per year) to cover the cost for their education.

She also encourages awareness of special needs in the community and what the centre is all about. She added that the school had developed significantly over 8 years since she was teaching there through the success of its programs. The centre was inaugurated in 1994.

During the event, the audience was entertained with performances of students with special needs which shows the world that their situation does not limit their potentials and skills; that only needs to be developed.

In addition, the centre also hosted the Chinese Dreams group for a stage drama which similarly represented members with special needs.

The Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre aims to ensure that international standards of excellence in education and therapy are maintained at every level.
