The Kanoo Group donates Dh1m to 'Reading Nation' drive

The Kanoo Group, one of the largest family-owned conglomerates in the UAE, donated Dh 1 million to support the 'Reading Nation' campaign for Ramadan.

The campaign was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in line with the UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's dedication of 2016 as the 'Year of Reading.'

'Reading Nation' aims to distribute five million books to children in refugee camps and schools around the world, establish over 2,000 libraries in different Arab and Islamic countries, and to support various educational programmes organised by humanitarian organisations..

Mishal Kanoo, Chairman of The Kanoo Group, said, "Our participation in this humanitarian initiative reaffirms our continued efforts in providing community support and paying back to society."

He added, "We are honoured to support 'Reading Nation' campaign and be part of a project that we believe will have a huge positive impact on generations and communities across the region and the world."

The Kanoo Group signs Platinum Sponsorship for 2014 Oil Barons Charity Ball

Dubai, UAE: As a consistent supporter of charitable works, The Kanoo Group, being last year’s Platinum Sponsor for Oil Barons Charity Ball has again renewed its sponsorship this year. This annual gala dinner, now on its 11th year will take place at Meydan Racecourse Dubai on 28th February 2014 to benefit its sole benefactor, Friends of Cancer Patients Society (FOCP).

Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) is a charitable, volunteer based foundation operating under the umbrella of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah with key objectives to provide moral, financial, emotional and medical support for cancer patients, while aiming to create a widespread awareness about cancer, early detection and prevention within UAE community.

The Oil Barons Charity Ball is the leading social event for the oil & gas industry in the UAE, hosting distinguished guests from reputable organizations. Last year, the Ball raised 1.1 million AED for the charity, with the hope for greater donations in 2014.

The Kanoo Group bags ADNOC HSE Award

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Kanoo Group, on behalf of Kanoo Power & Industrial Projects (P&IP) received an ADNOC HSE Award 2012 for Group Company & Contractor Partnership during a ceremony held on 23^rd April 2013 at Ritz Carlton Hotel, Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has been conducting the Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) Award program every year since 1997 to recognize the achievements of group companies, contractors, teams and persons in pursuing their commitment towards protecting health and safety of people, and safeguarding the environment.

Main categories for HSE Awards were: Innovation, Occupational Health, Safety, Environment, Sustainability, HSE Performance and HSE Champion. In addition, the award includes special recognition to its Directorate, Group companies and contracting partners working in the UAE.

The Kanoo Group was one of the top two contractors to win the Group Company & Contractor Partnership Award along with Taisei Corp. Japan.

Raman Marwaha (Commercial Manager, P&IP UAE), Ameen Sheikh (Regional Manager, P&IP Abu Dhabi) and Chandan Radhakrishnan (Project Manager, P&IP Abu Dhabi) representatives from The Kanoo Group received the prestigious award presented by Abdulla Nasser Al Suwaidi (Director General of ADNOC Group).

The Kanoo P&IP Division’s ongoing two-year 'Fugitive Emissions Monitoring Services contract' with Borouge won this accolade. The project monitors management of part leak integrity at the Borouge polymers production facility in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi - a facility owned and operated by the Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Limited. The Kanoo Group provides overall site-based people, resources and logistics. The program ensures that product leak risks are properly identified and managed, and helps reduce emissions in environment from leaks in plant process areas.

The Borouge fugitive emissions management program is part of Abu Dhabi Polymers' continuing assurance to production performance improvement and environmental emissions reduction. This involves leak survey of over 300,000 potential leak sources within the Ruwais production facility and performance improvement services to similar hydrocarbon-based production facilities throughout the Arabian Gulf region.

The Kanoo Group holds 14th Blood Donation Drive

Dubai, UAE – April 09, 2013: The Kanoo Group, in cooperation with Blood Donation Center-Latifa Hospital, yesterday marked the successful conclusion of the blood donation drive held at The Kanoo Group Main Office - HAK Training Hall, Bur Dubai.

Management staff from all divisions and branches across UAE, along with friends and families lined up to support the initiative which was conducted between 9.00 am to 1.30 pm by specialized medical team from Latifa Hospital and organized by The Kanoo Group Marketing Department.

Ali Islim, Marketing Manager on behalf of The Kanoo Group said: "It is an excellent opportunity to be a part of this humanitarian programme which reflects the shared beliefs and values of The Kanoo Group throughout the years on the importance of donation and community service. On behalf of the marketing team I would like to commend all the efforts for the collaboration and remarkable response of the 14th Blood Donation Campaign."

The Kanoo Group has been successfully conducting this campaign since 2003 and continuously promotes and encourages employees to partake in such priceless commitment to save lives as an integral part of the society.

The entire blood donation process was simple which took only 15 minutes on the average, for each patient, and received an overall positive feedback on safety and handling.

The volunteers were presented with tailor-made tokens from The Kanoo Group for their wholehearted efforts that underline the importance of restoring health and lives of people among others from around the world who earnestly seek help every second in the hope to reverse the course of their fate forever.

The Kanoo Group on Golf Tournament: It’s for charity

The annual McDermott Charity Golf Classic tournament raises fund to support local charities

Dubai, UAE – March 25, 2013: The Kanoo Group supported a major charitable initiative as a Platinum Sponsor in the 21^st McDermott Charity Golf Classic held on March 14, 2013 at The Els Club, Dubai Sports City. The organizers recognized the need for sports more than ever, combined with philanthropic focus which drew corporate clients for a challenging tournament.

Since its inception in 1992, this annual golf tournament has grown significantly and has received great sponsorship support from various local and international clients. Its goal is to raise funds for local charity institutions mainly the Dubai Center for Special Needs (DCSN).

The Dubai Center for Special Needs is a non-profit organization that provides the highest standards of service in specialized education and therapy for children with various disabilities. It is a caring environment, largely dependent on the generosity of the local communities and corporations.  Its aim is to provide each and every one of its students the key to a positive life, thereby "Lighting the path to a brighter future".

In the early eighties, the idea of establishing a Center to serve the needs of individuals with special needs took form. With an aim to raise funds, DCSN faces each day with a hope that more members of the community will step forward to offer their support.

McDermott Charity Golf Classic hosted a ‘Shrimp Boil’ in Dubai Offshore Sailing Club as an opening for the Charity Auction. It was followed by the golf tournament back at The Els Club. Teams were selected from various entries with the aim to balance the handicaps of all teams during the process.

The event ended with Awards Dinner wherein three team winners were presented with engraved trophies for First, Second, Third Place respectively; while prizes were also given for the ‘Golf Competition Hole Prizes’ for excellent performers in the 18 holes.

Mr. Bob Curtis, CEO - UAE & Oman graced the event on behalf of The Kanoo Group as a major sponsor.
