Kanoo Shipping wins Dubai Trade's 11th E-Services Excellence Award

Dubai Trade, the premier trade facilitation entity that offers integrated electronic services from various trade and logistics service providers in Dubai, honoured Kanoo Shipping, a division of The Kanoo Group, with ‘Electronics Services Award to Shipping Agent for General Cargo Service’ at the 11th E-Services Excellence Award.

The 11th cycle of E-Services Excellence Award (ESEA) ceremony was held at the Intercontinental Festival City Hotel, Dubai, on 18th February 2019, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.  

Abdulla Bin Damithan, Chief Commercial Officer, DP World, UAE Region, delivered his keynote speech and Hussain Alblooshi, Acting Chief Operating Officer, Dubai Trade, gave his welcome remarks in the presence of over 500 trade and logistics industry clients.
The annual event is part of Dubai Trade’s strategy to encourage the e-transformation & adoption toward the smart services available on its portal which in turn will help establish Dubai as the leading trade and logistics hub in the world.

It also aims to honour its clients who have been the most active online performers throughout the year, thus building customer loyalty by awarding the best-performing companies.

Mishal Kanoo, Chairman of The Kanoo Group UAE & Oman, together with Jonathan Bygrave, CEO, Kanoo Shipping; John Drinkwater, Vice President, Kanoo Shipping – UAE & Oman; Muhammad Farooq, Operations Manager – Northern Emirates; and Shihabdin Gulabdin, Service Manager, received the special award on behalf of Kanoo Shipping.

Jonathan Bygrave said, “We are delighted to be one of the role models in supporting the government’s initiative in innovation and use of technology to transform trade processes. This award will surely add value and moral support to Kanoo Shipping as well as the trade and logistics community in the UAE.”

Kanoo Shipping and other winners for different categories in the latest edition of ESEA were rewarded according to their mobile and online transactions across key services provided by DP World, Dubai Customs, and Jebel Ali Free Zone throughout 2018.

The prestigious event was attended by high profile leaders from Dubai's business community such as top executives, senior management & key decision makers from partners, banks, government, and private sectors.

The ESEA is in line with the Year of Innovation, and the Smart Government initiative to make all services available through smart platforms and the completion of its deadline announced by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Kanoo Shipping wins Outstanding Agent Award from NileDutch


Kanoo Shipping, commercial agent for NileDutch in the UAE since 1997, won the Outstanding Performance Award for 2017 in October 2018 at the NileDutch South East Asia Agency Meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The meeting was primarily held to analyse the current market situation in each region and to plan a strategy for 2019. As part of the event, a thorough review and assessment of NileDutch Agents performances for the past 2 years were carried out, subsequently announcing Kanoo Shipping as the best Agent for 2017 based on the set criteria.

The Outstanding Agent Award was presented by NileDutch CEO Wim J Van Aalst to Assistant Commercial Manager Azeem Shaikh Muhammad and Cargo Broking Manager Manoj Kumar B on behalf of Kanoo Shipping.
The agency meeting was attended by over 30 participants including Mr Wim J Van Aalst, CEO of Nile Dutch; Mr Denis J Van Aalst, Chief Finance Officer; Various Trade Managers from Singapore and China, and agents from Dubai, India, Colombo, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia.

NileDutch has grown to be one of the largest container shipping companies in the world. They focus on the links between (West) Africa and the rest of the world, supporting companies as they discover the opportunities the African continent offers.

Kanoo Travel wins Runner-Up Trophy at Royal Brunei Airlines’ bowling tournament in Dubai

Dubai, UAE: Kanoo Travel won a Runner-Up Trophy ahead of other travel contenders in the UAE in this year’s Royal Brunei Airlines Bowling Tournament, which was recently held at the Dubai International Bowling Centre.

Royal Brunei Airlines, the flag carrier for the Sultanate of Brunei, brought together 35 top travel agency partners in the UAE and their players, which made the event a roaring success.
Aubrey Heldt, General Manager, Kanoo Travel – UAE & Oman said, “Aside from promoting sports as well as our local bowling players, the main objective of this gathering is to foster friendship, cooperation and sportsmanship among our customers.”

“We were excited and nervous about the games. We had to give our best performance to keep up with high expectations in maintaining our winning titles which gave us numerous trophies and medals during the past years. Luckily, our team has brought home another trophy. Congratulations to all the participants from Kanoo Travel,” he lastly remarked.

The tournament is an effort to use sports as a communication tool to develop team dynamics and to celebrate the spirit of partnership and healthy competition among the travel management companies.

Kanoo Machinery bags top performance award from ADNEC

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Kanoo Machinery received a Certificate of Appreciation from ADNEC for obtaining an ‘A’ rating in the 2017 performance evaluation. The prestigious recognition award was given during the ADNEC Procurement and Vendor "Get Together Meeting’ held on 26th December 2018 at ADNEC Headquarters in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

On behalf of Kanoo Machinery Service Department, Mr. Sony Cherian George, Deputy Workshop Manager, and Mr. Mohammed Shabeer Ali, Workshop Supervisor, received the certificate award from Mr. Abdul Munaf Surve, Senior Procurement Specialist, ADNEC.
Mr. Cibyraj Natarajan Chandrika, Product Support Manager – UAE, Kanoo Machinery LLC said, “We are extremely proud and honoured with such a great award achieved by our Kanoo Machinery Service Department. We thank each and everyone for their team efforts and dedication.”

The ADNEC Procurement and Vendor "Get Together Meeting” started with a program to honour the Vendors who have showed their utmost support to ADNEC and who have performed and exceeded its expectations, it said, which later concluded with a lunch gathering.

Kanoo Travel recognizes Top Performers and Key Industry Contributors for 2018


Dubai, UAE: Kanoo Travel recently recognized its UAE top performers for 2018, with an awards ceremony held at its Headquarters in Dubai.
Mr. Zaeem Gama (Interim Executive General Manager) and Mr. Aubrey Heldt (General Manager – UAE & Oman), Kanoo Travel, hosted the ceremony and awarded the best employees based on several criteria, which were subjected to nominations by individual line managers and selection of winners by the management from among those nominees.

Today we honour the extraordinary achievements of our 2018 award winners. Those we have recognized have exhibited a true commitment to transforming Kanoo Travel in setting the standard for excellence within our company. They have exuded exceptional services not only to external but internal customers and emerging on top of their game,” said Mr. Zaeem Gama.

Mr. Aubrey Heldt added, “We strongly believe that this recognition will further encourage and build stronger enthusiasm and strength within our teams to scale new height for 2019. The winners were lauded for their dedication to going above and beyond their call of duty in serving Kanoo Travel’s customers and in continuously enhancing our client travel experiences.”

This year’s winners who have generated the ‘Highest Income’ were awarded to Abdul Khader Subhan, Hazel Muthambiranwa, Ma Loisa Bayos Gonzales, Nafessa Ansari Usman and Shafiullah Mohamed; while ‘Best Sales’ were given to Vikas Patil, Flora Coutinho,  Rekan Fazly Mohammed Latiff, Bahaa El Deen, Vimal Varghese, Arun Kumar B. Manigandan, and Waqar Ahmed respectively.

Other key awards including ‘Best Support Associate’ were given to Sundeep Sundara Babu, Muhammad Faraz Alam Khan, Kashimsab Shaikh, Rony Rodrigues, Jemini Jose Elavunkul, Edwin Vincent Dsouza, Duminda Prasad Silva, Irfan Zaka, and Wasantha Kumara Langappuli.

Equally, the ‘Best Customer Care’ awards were given to Qusai Habib, Marlon Cres M Andos, Haydee Mapoy, Roy Urmenita, Mohammed Idrees Amer John, Erly Sandaan Sta Cruz, Nazimul Islam, Debbie Tamayo David and Niroshanna Mandalanayagam.

Managers and staff of Kanoo Travel from across the UAE, as well as the regional office, convened to recognize and celebrate this year’s Kanoo Travel top performers in the UAE, while highlighting the importance of delivering an efficient, fast and convenient service to customers, and also keeping abreast with technologies.
