Kanoo Shipping wins top trophy in 2013 DSAA Bowling Championship

Dubai, UAE: Mr. Rajeeva Fonseka from Kanoo Shipping, won 1^st Place against 115 players from 20 different shipping companies in the 2013 DSAA Bowling Championship (Male Category) held at Dubai International Bowling Center on 22^nd June 2013.

Kanoo Shipping along with various Shipping Agents and Shipping Lines in Dubai participated in the Bowling Tournament to support one of DSAA’s major objectives to foster and strengthen the relations and cooperation between its members. Apart from this activity, the DSAA also organizes other sports events like Football as one of major events, Cricket and Badminton Tournament, and offers educational classes for this cause.

Dubai Shipping Agents Association (DSAA) is a non-profit organization, not engaged in any commercial activity that provides a platform for the general concern and interest of shipping industry. It is a brainchild of reputable members of the Shipping Agent’s community in Dubai who, with the support of the Director of the Department of Ports & Customs, identified the need for a joint representation of shipping agents doing business in the ports of Dubai.

The 2013 DSAA Bowling Championship was a remarkable success for Kanoo Shipping after Mr. Rajeeva Fonseka, scoring 524 points, brought home the major Championship title for Male Category.

Mr. Fahim Golandaz of Modern Freight Co. (ALMAR Containers) and Mr. Joel of AMI garnered 2^nd and 3^rd Place with scores of 515 and 447 points respectively.

On the other hand, Ms. Cristin of HMM earned 1^st Place for Female Category, with a total score of 385 points. Ms. Irene Penales of Simatec – 2^nd Place and Ms. Daisy Alcantara of Goodluck Shippng – 3^rd place, each scored 367 and 325 points.

The tournament ended on a peaceful note. Aside from the exciting match that everyone experienced, representatives from Kanoo Shipping along with members of DSAA developed a sense of camaraderie and teamwork which are important contributions in the development of the entire association.

Kanoo Machinery recognises top performers in the 5th Parts Meeting

Dubai, UAE: Kanoo Machinery honored three outstanding performers for 2012 in the 5^th Parts Meeting held on 29^th May 2013 in its Jebel Ali new facility. The awards ceremony, recently integrated as part of the program was one of the highlights of the event which gathered team members of the Parts Division from various branches.

This regular meeting aims to address related issues and to discuss group performance and achievements. In addition, it also gives recognition to top performers of the year which contributed a lot in the success and development of Kanoo Machinery.

The 2012 Parts Awards were given to Afroz Mujawar (Parts Supervisor-Abu Dhabi) and Maryam Talib (Customer Service Coordinator-Dubai) consequently.

Afroz Mujawar won the “Parts Employee of the Year 2012”. His key achievements for 2012 were as follows: Sold and liquidated DIG DOG buckets which were non-moving items for many years; achieved maximum growth in Parts sales (34%) and uptrend sales in all franchises; provided trainings/mentoring and contributed a lot in general in building a successful Parts team in Abu Dhabi.

Maryam Talib received an award for her outstanding customer service performance for 2012. She excellently handled heavy load of parts inquiries from customers; provided fast and accurate sending of quotes to customers; at times has sent more than 40 quotations to customers in a single day; ensured that customer queries were timely attended to and responded to without any delay. In general, her performance resulted to increase in overall smooth, efficient and precise production of customer service Parts team in Dubai.

K. Gopinath was also granted with exceptional “Service Award” for his loyalty, commitment and dedication in the service for 35 years. He has been an important constituent in building the Parts team since he joined in 1977.

Mr. Bob Jennings, General Manager of Kanoo Machinery, during his opening speech, presented a Vision for Kanoo Machinery which served as an advice and guidance in realigning plans and future actions. He also mentioned that Parts team has emerged as one of the best teams in Kanoo Machinery Division.

The 5^th Parts Meeting concluded with review of actions and results embarked for the year 2012 and discussed upcoming objectives for Kanoo Machinery-Parts Division.

The Kanoo Group earns ENOC Award for outstanding performance

Dubai, UAE – May 05, 2013: Kanoo Power & Industrial Projects (P&IP), a division of The Kanoo Group received the Strategic Supplier Recognition Award (Silver Award – Supply, Trading & Processing) from Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC)-Dubai for its valuable contribution and performance for 2012 held at Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City on 5th May 2013.

Mr. Saeed Khoory, CEO of ENOC Dubai presented the award trophy to Mr. Fahad Kanoo, Executive Director of The Kanoo Group, on behalf of Kanoo Power & Industrial Projects (P&IP).

Kanoo Power & Industrial Projects (P&IP) won the award for its successful execution of two major projects i.e. Gas Plant Mothballing and Shutdown Project at DUGAS. Projects were completed within the time schedule and with utmost satisfaction from its client.

The recent event organized by ENOC was to honour its major suppliers/ contractors for their outstanding role in strengthening ENOC's operational efficiency for the year 2012. Only 15 key suppliers including The Kanoo Group were awarded the special recognition out of ENOC's 1,540 active suppliers.

Dubai, UAE – May 14, 2013: Being a constant advocate of educational excellence, The Kanoo Group extended its major sponsorship in the 2013 Abu Dhabi Industry Award (ADIA) which honors students of Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) for their exceptional academic performances. The award ceremony, now on its 10th year was held at HTC Abu Dhabi Men's College on 14th May 2013.

Mr. Ameel Murshed (P. A. to Chairman - UAE & Oman) and Mr. Hesham Nass (Business Development Manager – Kanoo Commercial Group) both attended the 2013 Abu Dhabi Industry Award as official delegates of The Kanoo Group.

His Excellency Mohammad Omran Al Shamsi, Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology inaugurated the program in the presence of graduates, parents, faculty, staff and senior representatives of The Kanoo Group along with other corporate sponsors where he delivered his keynote address.

His Excellency warmly welcomed the industry partners at the ceremony who believed in their students and their capabilities. He said that he wanted to interact more closely with them to find out what are their expectations of the students and to work towards achieving, if not exceeding those expectations.

Dr Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology added, "We greatly thank our many industry partners and recognize their ongoing support of, and sponsorships with, the Higher Colleges which make the Abu Dhabi Industry Award such an important aspect of our graduates' development and growth. The success of this awards system is due to our partners' magnificent support throughout the years."

This ADIA award is open to graduates from all 17 HCT campuses located across the United Arab Emirates. Under the awards' scheme, the campuses can nominate students from the 2012 graduate cohort who attained Grade Point Average scores of 3.5 and above. The students will be from many hundreds of Masters, Bachelors, Higher Diploma and Diploma graduates, who excelled in any of the six core programme fields taught at HCT and based on the students' graduation projects, work placement grades, attendance records and contributions to college activities and the community in general.

Thirty one 2012 Graduates qualified for the said criteria as outstanding ambassadors of the HCT's ethos of achieving excellence in education. Significant cash rewards were given to 29 undergraduates and 2 master's graduates where each received AED 25,000 and AED 30,000 respectively. This accolade is one of the largest highest educational prizes in the country.

The ADIA is overseen by a distinguished Board of Governors which ensures that key objectives are achieved as follows: To encourage national students to pursue professional programs which are vital for local industry; To encourage national students to excel in their studies and attitude to reflect positively on the country; and To provide a platform for UAE industry to recognize excellence in national graduates.

The Kanoo Group honored at World Civil Defense Day

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Kanoo Group received a plaque and a certificate of appreciation from Civil Defense body in celebration of World Civil Defense Day which took place on 7th May 2013 at Police Officers Club, Abu Dhabi.

The award was given to The Kanoo Group, along with other participating companies, strategic partners, and media representatives as significant contributor in the success of the World Civil Defense Day 2013 which took place under the theme: “Civil Defense and the Preparation of Civil Associations for Disaster Prevention.”

Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Acting General Commander-in-chief together with Colonel Dr. Jassim Al Mudrib, of Civil Defense, presented the honour to Mr. Ameel Murshed, PA to Chairman-Abu Dhabi office, on behalf of The Kanoo Group.

Key management officials of the Civil Defense General Headquarters were also present in the occasion.

Event highlights include presentation of a documentary film explaining the tasks and work of civil defense forces, along with the role of the fire fighters and rescuers to provide security and safety to people; and also a poem recited by Major Mohammad Bakhit Al Menhali expressing his love to the homeland and its leadership titled, “The UAE.”

Major General Al Matroushi stressed the cooperation and communication between civil defense forces and the media, highlighting the role of the media in spreading the culture of protection among all society members. In his speech, he said, “This recognition falls under the approach that the civil defense leadership follows to honor excellence in order to empower success, motivate capabilities, launch initiatives, and achieve further successes.”
